Time To Pet is the default choice in pet-care software for a reason — it's mature, well supported, and does almost everything. Most people looking for an alternative aren't unhappy with the product. They're unhappy with what it costs once they add staff, or they're a one-person operation paying for a system built for teams.
Disclosure: we make Nuzzo, which is one of the six options below. We've tried to be straight about where the others are stronger — if this reads like a sales pitch rather than a comparison, it hasn't done its job.
Feature lists across these products look remarkably similar — scheduling, invoicing, client portals, visit reports. The difference that actually shows up in your bank account is how they charge.
Time To Pet and Scout charge a base fee plus a rate per staff member. That's reasonable if each walker earns you more than they cost, and it's how most business software is sold. But it means your software bill grows every time you hire, and it makes a part-time weekend helper a recurring line item.
Precise Petcare, PetPocketbook and Nuzzo charge a flat monthly fee. Cost is predictable and adding people doesn't change it. The trade is usually a smaller feature set and less hand-holding than Time To Pet offers.
So the honest question isn't “which is best” — it's how many people will touch this software, and how much of Time To Pet's depth do you actually use?
| Software | Pricing model | Roughly | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Time To Pet | Base fee + per active staff member | From ~$25/mo solo; team plans ~$40 base + ~$16 per staff | Established teams that want the category standard and a deep feature set |
| Scout | Base fee + per staff member | ~$33 base + ~$15 per staff | Teams who prefer Scout's interface and reporting |
| Precise Petcare | Flat monthly | From ~$15/mo | Budget-conscious sitters who want journals and a client portal |
| PetPocketbook | Flat monthly, covers all staff and clients | ~$25/mo | Solos and small teams who want billing handled and predictable cost |
| Easy Busy Pets | All-in-one platform including a website builder | Listed from ~$250/mo for one staff member | Businesses that want software and a marketing site in one place |
| Nuzzo | Flat monthly by team size band, not per seat | $29/mo solo; $79/mo for a team up to 5 | Walkers, sitters and boarders who run from a phone and want one flat bill |
Pricing as publicly listed in August 2026, from vendor sites and the software directories. Plans and prices change often, and several vendors quote only after a demo — check the current figure with each company before deciding. If you spot something out of date here, tell us and we'll correct it.
The closest like-for-like swap. Same shape as Time To Pet — base fee plus per-staff — at a broadly similar price, so switching for cost alone rarely pays off. People move for the interface and reporting. One oddity worth checking before you commit: Scout's annual billing has been listed higher per month than monthly billing, which is the reverse of most software.
The budget pick, at roughly $15/mo flat. Strong on pet-care journals and client portals, and the flat fee means a growing team doesn't change the bill. It's the oldest-feeling product of the group — worth a trial before committing if interface matters to you.
Flat ~$25/mo covering all staff and clients, which makes it one of the more predictable options for a small team. Billing is its centre of gravity. Note that it keeps the subscription flat partly through fees on client payments, so compare total cost, not just the monthly line.
A different category — an all-in-one platform that bundles a marketing website and CRM alongside scheduling. Listed entry pricing is far higher than the rest (around $250/mo for a single staff member), though a free tier is also advertised and pricing is unusually opaque. Ask directly for a quote. Worth it only if you genuinely want your website and software from the same vendor.
Ours. $29/mo solo or $79/mo for a team of up to five, priced by band rather than per seat, and built phone-first — it installs as an app from the browser, so there's nothing to download. Bookings with recurring schedules, multi-pet visits, overnight stays with a live photo feed, photo report cards, a magic-link client portal, an embeddable booking widget, staff roles, and invoices payable by Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, Cash App or card — you keep 100% of your rate either way. The gaps worth knowing: no GPS visit tracking, and accounting is QuickBooks-ready CSV export on Team rather than a live two-way sync. If you depend on either, Time To Pet is the better answer today.
Switching costs are real — migrating clients, pets, schedules and billing history is a weekend you don't get back. Stay put if:
