The best dog grooming software in 2026, compared honestly

Five tools groomers actually use, compared on what they cost for a solo or mobile groomer and for a growing salon, plus the things groomers ask about most: texting, online booking and whether it works with Square.

Disclosure: we make Nuzzo, one of the tools below. Prices from each vendor's site in October 2026, billed monthly, checked on October 13, 2026. Where we couldn't confirm something, we say so instead of guessing, and we list where Nuzzo falls short. Prices change, so check before you buy.

The short answer

  • Most complete for salons and multi-van teams: MoeGo. Automated texts, route optimization and its own payments, priced per van or per location.
  • Established salon software at a low entry price: DaySmart Pet. $29 a month for one user if you use its payment processing, with a 14-day trial.
  • Grooming inside a daycare or boarding facility: Gingr, from $109 a month per facility.
  • Solo and mobile groomers who want one flat price: Nuzzo. $29 solo, $79 for up to five people, no per-van fee, with prices by dog size, online booking and photo report cards. No texting or Square integration yet.

MoeGo

Good fit if: You run a busy salon or several vans and want the deepest grooming toolset: automated text reminders, two-way messaging, digital agreements, and route optimization and a waitlist from the Growth plan up.

Watch out for: Above the $49 Basic plan it's priced per van ($99 or $159 each) or per location, so a second van doubles the bill. No free trial is listed. Square is no longer supported; MoeGo says payments go through MoeGo Pay.

DaySmart Pet (formerly 123Pet)

Good fit if: You want an established system with a low entry price and a 14-day trial. Basic is $29 a month for one user if you take cards through its payment processing.

Watch out for: Prices step up by user count (3 users, then 6), and two-way texting is only on the Growth plans at $149 a month and up. Its help center names Stripe as the card processor, not Square.

Pawfinity

Good fit if: You groom and also train, board or offer nail and dental services, and want one grooming-aware tool with a simple flat monthly price.

Watch out for: The Groom & Train plan is $60 a month, texting is charged per message, and the free trial is 7 days. Its site doesn't say which card processor it uses.

Gingr

Good fit if: Grooming happens inside a daycare or boarding facility and you need kennels, check-in and grooming in one system.

Watch out for: It starts at $109 a month per facility with no free trial listed, which is a lot of software for a one-person grooming business.

Nuzzo (us)

Good fit if: You're a solo, mobile or small-team groomer who wants one flat price ($29, or $79 for up to five people) with no per-van fee. You set small, medium, large and XL prices per service, clients book from your online booking page, and you get recurring appointments, multi-dog bookings, photo report cards, a client portal, release forms with e-signature, vaccination record requests, client calendar colors, and a “Map this day” link plus Waze links for the van. It installs on your phone from the browser.

Watch out for: No text reminders (email and app notifications only), no route optimization, no app-store app, and no Square integration. You can add your Square payment link as a Pay button on invoices (the client types the amount), or Venmo, Zelle, PayPal and Cash App buttons with the amount filled in, then mark invoices paid yourself. If automated texting or Square checkout is a must-have today, pick one of the tools above.

If you take payments on Square

A lot of groomers started on a Square reader and want to keep it. Check this before you switch: MoeGo's help center says its Square integration is no longer supported after December 31, 2025, when Square retired the Reader SDK it was built on, and it now points customers to MoeGo Pay. Among the grooming tools in this comparison, none currently names Square as a built-in processor.

  • Square Appointments is Square's own booking app, with a free plan for solo professionals. It works with your Square reader out of the box, but it's general salon software, so there's no pricing by dog size or pet records.
  • ProPet has a listing in Square's App Marketplace and says you can take payments through a Square card reader. It covers boarding, daycare and training as well as grooming. Pricing not confirmed, check their site.
  • Nuzzo doesn't integrate with Square, but you can paste your Square payment link once in settings and it shows as a Pay button on every invoice. You keep using Square for the money and mark the invoice paid in Nuzzo.

How to choose in ten minutes

  1. Write down your must-haves. For most groomers it's booking, prices by size or breed, reminders and getting paid.
  2. Price it for where you'll be in a year. Per-van, per-location and per-user pricing adds up as you grow.
  3. Decide how you want to take payments. If you're staying on Square, confirm the integration in writing before you move; several tools now require their own processor.
  4. Start two free trials, enter three real clients with their dogs in each, and book a week. Keep the one you didn't have to think about.

Common questions

What is the best scheduling app for dog groomers?

It depends on how you work. For a busy salon or a multi-van mobile operation that wants automated texts and route optimization, MoeGo is the most complete grooming-specific tool, priced per van or per location. For a salon on a budget with a front desk, DaySmart Pet starts at $29 a month with its own payments. For a solo or mobile groomer who wants size-based prices, online booking and one flat price, Nuzzo is $29 a month, or $79 for up to five people. Prices from each vendor's site, checked October 13, 2026.

What is the best app for a mobile dog grooming business?

Mobile groomers usually need three things: appointments that fit around drive time, prices by dog size, and a way to get paid at the van. MoeGo is built around mobile and adds route optimization on its $99 per van Growth plan. Nuzzo is $29 flat whatever your van count, with a "Map this day" link that opens the day's stops in your maps app and a Waze link on each visit, but it does not reorder stops for you.

Which dog grooming software is compatible with Square?

Fewer than you'd expect in 2026. MoeGo's help center says its Square integration is no longer supported after December 31, 2025, when Square retired the Reader SDK it relied on, and MoeGo now points customers to MoeGo Pay. DaySmart Pet's help center names Stripe, and Pawfinity and Gingr do not name Square on their sites. ProPet, a pet business tool that covers grooming, has a listing in Square's App Marketplace that says it takes payments through a Square card reader. Square Appointments, Square's own booking app, has a free plan but is general salon software without size-based pet pricing. Nuzzo has no Square integration: you can paste your Square payment link so it shows as a Pay button on every invoice, then mark the invoice paid.

What is the cheapest dog grooming software?

Among the grooming tools we compared, DaySmart Pet Basic ($29 a month if you use its payment processing, $39 if not, one user) and Nuzzo Solo ($29) have the lowest list prices. For a team, Nuzzo is $79 for up to five people; DaySmart Pet is $69 to $89 for three users and $199 to $219 for six. Square Appointments has a free plan but is not built for pets.

Does grooming software send text reminders?

MoeGo includes an SMS allowance in every plan, DaySmart Pet includes two-way texting on its Growth plans, and Pawfinity charges per message. Nuzzo does not send texts yet; reminders and updates go out by email and phone app notifications.

Can clients book grooming appointments online?

All of the tools here offer some form of online booking. In Nuzzo, clients pick a service and time on your booking page or a widget on your own website, and you approve the request before it goes on your calendar.
