Holidays are when your time is worth the most and you have the least of it. A clear surcharge, set before bookings come in, avoids awkward conversations later.
Setting a holiday policy clients accept
- Publish the dates in advance. List them on your rates page and in your client agreement so nobody is surprised at booking time.
- Charge for the date, not the trip. A stay from December 22 to 27 is part normal and part holiday. Charging the surcharge only on the holiday nights is fairer and easier to explain.
- Keep the list short. The big travel holidays are where demand peaks. A surcharge on every long weekend reads as a price increase.
- Pay your team for it too. If you have walkers, share the holiday premium with whoever works the day.
